Alzheimer's Disease Cortical Membrane and Cholesterol

Small angle X-ray analysis of Alzheimer's Disease lipid membranes showed significant structure changes. Role of cholesterol in these changes. Alterations in the composition and structure of the membrane bilayer may play role in pathophysiology of AD by altering activity and catabolism of membrane-bound proteins--most notably the beta-amyloid precursor protein.
